Mission

This blog is The Event of the year. It’s bigger than the Big Bang Theory. It’s taller than Two and a Half Men, and hopefully after all the $#!@ my dad tells me, I’ll be able to make this blog, a place where even a Monk or The Mentalist or even The Good Wife will constantly visit. A place where, if you’re bored in The Office, Undercovers or visiting 30 Rock, you’ll want to visit to see the latest televisions news, opinions, reviews and polls. Fox Unofficially Cancels...

FOX announced yesterday that it was not ordering more episodes of its drama "Lie to Me." The show currently has a 13 episode order, and from the looks of things that 13 episode will be its last.

Generally when a network doesn't make a back nine order for a show, it's a sure sign the program has been cancelled. However, FOX has not officially canceled the program.

So far this season, "Lie to Me" has not performed well, generally getting around a 2.0 adult 18-49 rating.

FX Cancels...

The drama praised by critics and overlooked by viewers, "Terriers," the low rated drama on FX, has officially been cancelled by the network.

This comes as no surprise, as the ratings for the finale only drew a .3 adult 18-49 rating and 784,000 total viewers.

Cancellation Watch: Which of your Favorite Shows are Nearing Cancellation

Fringe
Why it's in Danger: This season, "Fringe" has fallen below a 2.0 adult 18-49 rating on several occasions. Plus, a move to Fridays never bodes well for a show.
Saving Grace: If it can maintain around a 2.0 on Fridays, it might survive to next season.

No Ordinary Family
Why it's in Danger: Since the super hero drama's strong premiere, it's steadily been declining in the key demographic.
Saving Grace: Most of ABC's news shows aren't doing well, and the network won't cancel all of their new shows.

The Event
Why it's in Danger: "The Event" premiered with a 3.6 adult 18-49 rating. It's last new episode garnered a 1.7 18-49 rating. The show is sinking fast.
Saving Grace: Much like ABC, none of NBC's new shows have been big hits, and NBC is doing all it can to make "The Event" a permanent fixture on its schedule.

Human Target
Why it's in Danger: Its second season premiere only saw a 1.8 adult 18-49 rating.
Saving Grace: FOX has faith in the show, giving it the post Idol spot on Wednesdays.

CSI: NY/CSI: Miami
Why it's in Danger: Both of these CSI spinoffs have seen their ratings drop since they both moved to new time-slots.
Saving Grace: CBS won't cancel both, but look for one of them to be gone next season.

Detroit 1-8-7
Why it's in Danger: Since its premiere it's consistently received below a 2.0 adult 18-49 rating.
Saving Grace: Most of ABC's news shows aren't doing well, and the network won't cancel all of their new shows.

Chase
Why it's in Danger: A 1.2 adult 18-49 rating. Need I say more.
Saving Grace: It's sure to be cancelled unless the midseason move to Wednesdays does wonders.

CBS Cancels...

"Medium" was officially cancelled today. This comes as no surprise considering its abysmal ratings, even for a Friday night.

The dramas final episode will air Friday, January 21.

NBC Cancels...

"UnderCovers" was cancelled by NBC today. This comes as no surprise. Last night the spy drama only managed a 1.3 adult 18-49 rating.

The next three scheduled episodes will air as planned. No word if the remaining three yet to be scheduled will see the light of day.

This is now the second show in my original "Top Five Shows to Watch this Season" to be cancelled. The first being "Lone Star," now long forgotten.

CW Unofficially Cancels...

The CW has not given a back nine order for their sophomore drama "Life Unexpected."

This was an expected move from the CW. "Life Unexpected" is currently the networks lowest rated show. The drama will finish its 13 episode order in January.

The network has not officially cancelled the series, but not ordering additional episodes is never a good sign.

ABC Giveth and ABC Taketh Away

ABC gave full season pickups to "No Ordinary Family" and "Better With You." Both of these freshmen shows are the networks best performers out of all its new shows. This isn't saying much, as both have been getting around a 2.3 adult 18-49 rating.

The network also ordered four more episodes of "Brothers & Sisters," bringing its total episode count to 22. Five additional episodes were also ordered for "Detroit 1-8-7," bringing its total to 18 episodes.

Finally, ABC announced today, that "The Whole Truth" had been cancelled. This comes as no surprise due to its extremely poor ratings.

And the third cancellation is...

Outlaw was cancelled by NBC today. This isn't much of a shock since its past two airings only garnered a 1.0 adult 18-49 rating.

The Friday at 10p.m. timeslot will be filled with Dateline NBC specials. The remaining episodes of Outlaw will air Saturdays at 8p.m.

C.S.I.-Is this it?

C.S.I. has been staple of CBS's schedule for 11 years. It's spun off two other versions of itself and has been a top ten show for the past 10 seasons.

However this year, things have changed. C.S.I.'s latest episode only garnered a 2.7 adult 18-49 rating, way behind Greys Anatomy's 4.6 and The Office's 3.5. In the height of the show's popularity, it was receiving over 25 million viewers. This past Thursday it received 12.5 million viewers, no where near 25 million.

Its recent 2.7 rating makes C.S.I. one of CBS's lower rated shows. Bearing the question, could this be the last year for the once unstoppable crime drama?

Production Shut Down on...

NBC has shut down production on its low rated Friday drama Outlaw. This comes as no surprise. The last episode only received a 1.0 adult 18-49 rating.

So far 8 episodes have been tapped, and NBC plans to continue airing the remaining episodes.

Cancellation: Give the Show a Chance

Here's an interesting article that talks about why networks don't give new television shows a chance to find their audience.

Cancellation Looming: Returning Series

Now that I've noted which new series are already in danger of cancellation, it's time to look at returning shows that are in danger of not returning next season.

Chuck
Why it's in danger: After three seasons of walking a thin line between renewal and cancellation, this just might be the year Chucks time in the C.I.A. ends.
Saving Grace: Chase, Undercovers and Outlaw are all doing worse than Chucks 1.9.

Parenthood
Why it's in danger: After having a somewhat strong first season, Parenthood has dropped down to a 2.0, placing last out of all the shows on at 10p.m.
Saving Grace: Chase, Chuck, Undercovers and Outlaw are all doing worse

Fringe
Why it's in danger: FOX has been very patient with Fringe, especially after it's ratings dropped when it moved to Thursdays at 9p.m., but the networks patience might just end this season. Fringe has only been receiving around a 2.1.
Saving Grace: Fringe does air on Thursdays, which has never been a strong night for FOX.

Medium
Why it's in danger: Last season, CBS saved this ghost show, but this past Friday it only pulled a 1.2, making Medium likely to be it's own ghost.
Saving Grace: Medium does air on Fridays where shows aren't expected to do as well.
